A friend gave me this little bag of Amish Friendship Bread starter on Friday. It was kinda weird, she handed me a bag of gooey dough that needed to be mashed a couple days and then follow the directions on the page to make some, apparently delicious, bread.
Here are the lessons I learned
1. Friends sometimes share things with you that you don't quite understand.
2. The directions to friendship sometimes include mash and let the air out periodically so that that the result is delicious.
3. Friends trust each other with the gooey stuff in the first place.
And something else, God put that box of Vanilla Jello pudding on my shelf months ago, apparently just waiting for my friend to give me this recipe that needed this box of pudding.
Thank you God for knowing just what our friendships need, and for putting it on our shelves long in advance. Even when we don't know why we put the "box of pudding" in our buggy in the first place.
Now it's time to go make bread...
