Zoo, Ice Cream, American Citizenship

My husband is a veteran. He served in the US Navy for 10 years, sailing around the world, bringing home stories and treasures and pictures of far away places. Soon after he left the Navy, our country was attacked on 9/11/2001. 

That day we, Damon and I, made a commitment to family. To serve God, to do more with what God had given us. To be thankful that we are on the planet to make a difference in some small way, everyday, to honor the memory of those people who were killed senselessly that day much to our horror. 

Zoe's little top she wore to the US Consulate today has "Remember 911, We Will Not Forget", pictures of Freedom that is fought for every single day of our lives by people who are committed to fight for our family's freedom to make choices that we believe honor God and our country. 

So without further opinion, I present to you some good that came from 9/11. 
We will never forget.

Brief interruption, he still waits

We have to concentrate on the important issues right in front of us moment by moment. The big picture of waiting orphans is overwhelming if I think of it as a whole. Will you stop a minute today and pray for this guy.

He's almost nine. He had casting done on clubbed feet as a little boy. He still can't kick that ball like a pro (yet), he really needs you to come. He needs a family willing to take a chance on him.

Now this is just happy

Starting to think that we have discovered one of the great mysteries in God's universe. My friend Yvette has told me that children with dwarfism are just generally happy people. But this???

 Now to describe these two pics........Zoe is going to the doctor to get shots.......then she is getting ready to get her TB skin test............Please explain how a child can smile thinking about getting shots, and smile and look peaceful when a nurse is about ready to stick a needle in the forearm??????????

Who is this found treasure?

Today was the last day in Z's hometown. It was sad but exciting. Sad for Daddy, Exciting for Z! She just refuses to be anything but happy and co-operative. Z was about to embark on her very first plane ride of her life. She is standing in line at the airport with D. D hands her the boarding pass, shows her what gate was listed on the ticket. She takes off quickly leading him to the correct gate. She boarded the plane like a pro, flew into GZ, kicked back in her five star hotel, took a bath, and got ready for bed.

Everyone reading this:

This is NOT typical adopted kid behavior. She's our fifth adoption. God has had mercy on us! She is a treasure. By far the easiest child to travel with according to D! God has had mercy on us!

Martyr's Park Changsha

D said Z is a great shot and loved this.

Today Z and D had a great time at the park in Changsha. Z is a great target shooter, and really enjoys anything that Dad takes her to do. She answered a few questions today. One question we had translated was

What are you most afraid of? Her answer..........Tigers.

Favorite color? Red of course

Favorite foods? Chicken and Beef, watermelon and strawberries

Public school 52 children in the class

Today Zoe and Dad got a chance to visit her classroom and her orphanage. When she got in the classroom, all the kids had notes and origami sculptures for her:) When they got ready to leave the classroom of 52 children.........all kinds of yelling erupted and they wished Zoe a great life with a final send off. The teacher had lost control at this point...........

D said that one little boy in the middle freaking out was hysterical saying goodbye to Zoe.

Children are children, and this picture to me is pure heaven:)

So much packed into one day!

Today she has a new last name, thank you Jesus!

studio where they take antique 
style portraits of children. 
We wanted Zoe to have an heirloom 
from Hunan to pass on to our grandkids:)
