It was six years ago today that our phone rang as I lay sick on the couch. The lady on the other end of the phone was not a familiar voice. She began telling me that our family had been selected to be matched with a little girl that we had asked permission to adopt. We had began our paperchase for this child's adoption wanting to adopt a baby girl with no special need as young as possible. It was January 2006 that all our paperwork was sent to China and logged in for a long wait. The very next month our agency got a list of kids with special needs, and the day that the list was posted, we looked at all the kids and there she was. Mia. Mia was originally going to be called Sofia. She had a cleft palate. Unrepaired. At the time, this was so new to us. The whole thought of how would we take care of her, surgery, all that. We were scared.
Fast forward..................I can't possibly begin to explain how this child SAVED MY LIFE, and now she writes us this Valentine to tell us how THANKFUL she is for what we have done for her.
I can't fathom my life had I never met her. For this my dearest treasure, I Am THANKFUL for what you have done for me
