Zoe's "Family" in China

Our daughter has a life in China. These are the pictures to prove it. I am glad she is being well taken care of. I am glad she does not have to suffer like so many other orphans who live without any attention, without much food or medicine. I am glad there are people who have taken a vested interest in making her available for adoption, people who want to make sure that when she reaches an age of independence she has a forever family. She will also finally have a name that does not identify her as an orphan. I am sure she will be missed by the people she has known for the past 6 years. I am sure she will miss them all too. She probably doesn't have any idea that her life will soon change in such a drastic way. She will leave the orphanage one morning, after who knows what kind of a "good bye". She will be handed off to a white guy she has never met. She will be encouraged to be courageous, obedient. She will be told "this is your new Baba". I can only imagine how she will wish she could run away. Run back to her orphanage where life is good and comfortable and routine. She will have no idea that she will recover from this abrupt, unwanted, angry, scared, panic-stricken day in her life. The reason I know what this looks like is that one day in June 2009, I stood in Ethiopia and watched another child panic. It was terrible. It still is terrible at times. This Ethiopian child still would go back to her former life if it were possible. She still is trapped in a mindset of "if I make them think that there is no hope that I will ever fit in America, then they will send me back". And each day this Ethiopian child wakes up and this mama and daddy are still here, and so is she. Older child adoption takes TIME to work out the glitches.

Dear Zoe Bella Mei,

Try as you may, we will never send you back to China. Your life will change on that day you meet Damon, you can call him "D", all the kids do. You will have to be courageous and obedient. You must choose to laugh. You must choose to live. You must choose to trust again. I know that you won't trust him at first. I know you won't trust me either. I know you will believe that if something like the day that you will soon experience could happen, then this world is full of bad surprises. I pray that you will be supernaturally surrounded by God's love and covering. I pray that you will walk straight on the path laid before you on that day. Your daddy will not let anything happen to you. He is bringing you home to me, your mama. Where (whether you like me or not) I will be here, each and every day to prove to you that you can count on somethings in life. I don't know everything there is to know about the way God made you with dwarfism, but I figure you will show us what you need for us to help you. (we've purposely kept our heads in the sand a bit on this as we don't want to have preconceived fears that don't play out, fear is not from our Father)

Only Holy Spirit comfort can help my daughter walk through the upcoming days with trust. Will you help me pray?

Looks like travel is still a few months away, maybe March or April travel.
