Some people have traditions of certain food at Christmas time. I remember something weird that will always remind me of Christmas.
Deans French Onion Dip and Fritos.
It won't be Christmas in our house without those. Granted some families have other traditions that are far more nostalgic, certain warm comfort foods, grandma's best cakes, egg nog, ham.........mine is Deans and Fritos.
If you can't find Deans at your grocer, try this one with Fritos Scoops!
French Onion Dip Recipe
1 recipe of caramelized onions
1 1/2 cups sour cream
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Making Home Made French Onion Dip
1) Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl except for the caramelized onions and mix well.
2) Add the cooled caramelized onions mix.
3) Refrigerate for at least two hours to let the flavors incorporate. If you have the patience to let it chill overnight, that’s even better. When doing so, make sure that the plastic wrap is touching the French Onion Dip so there is little opportunity for oxidation. Stir well, serve with your choice of chips or fresh veggies
